Perplexity Finance is the market side of Perplexity’s answer engine: quote, earnings and filing pages for stocks, ETFs and crypto, a natural-language screener, price alerts and a portfolio view, reachable on the web and in the iOS and Android apps. It is an answer engine first, and Perplexity’s own terms of service warn that its output can be incorrect and that you should not rely on it for investment advice.

What Perplexity Finance includes

The Finance homepage is the entry point, and Perplexity rebuilt it around a customizable watchlist. Prices also turn up outside the Finance section: on the web, live price information for stocks, cryptocurrencies and other assets appears directly within answers, and tapping an indicator opens that asset’s Finance page. On a phone, typing “finance” in the app is a shortcut to the homepage with the desktop feature set, which Perplexity shipped for iOS and Android on September 11, 2025.

Earnings have their own hub, added in July 2025 with a calendar view and what Perplexity describes as “instant synthesis of earnings calls while they’re happening”. A Documents section in the Earnings tab carries the company’s own earnings documents for the call you are reading, and a Research tab brought in Morningstar analyst reports the same month; Perplexity says those reports are available to all users for free.

Primary documents sit one layer below that. Perplexity added SEC filings search in June 2025, along with a Space for querying “5,600+ earnings call transcripts from the last two years.” If you want the company’s words rather than a summary of them, that is where to look.

For finding names in the first place, “Perplexity Finance now includes a natural-language stock screener, in the new Screener tab,” the company wrote in July 2025. Natural language is the input, so the query is a sentence rather than a form of numeric filters.

Crypto and ETFs are covered on their own pages. Perplexity put COIN50 index graphs on the Finance homepage through a partnership with Coinbase in July 2025 and added a Historical Data tab on crypto pages to “download price and volume data.” In November 2025 the Latest Price Movement timeline reached ETF and crypto asset pages. On January 16, 2026, an ETF holdings tab began showing portfolio composition by percentage weight, value and number of shares, which is the detail most ETF shoppers actually want.

Alerts close the loop. From an asset page or the Finance homepage you can set a price alert on a target price or an intraday movement threshold you specify; Perplexity then runs a query you customize and sends an email or push notification. Read the rollout note before you count on it: in that July 2025 entry, alerts were “available to some users, rolling out gradually to everyone,” so what you see in your account may differ from what the changelog describes. Perplexity has also opened the Finance pages to all users in India, so the section is not US-only.

Linking a brokerage or bank account through Plaid

On March 13, 2026, Perplexity said users in the US and Canada can securely connect their brokerage accounts through Plaid, then ask Computer, its agent, to build a personal terminal on top of that portfolio data. On April 17, 2026, the same connection extended to bank accounts, credit cards and loans.

The April 9, 2026 blog post “Computer is Now Your Personal CFO” sets out the terms of the feature. Plaid, it says, powers connections to more than 12,000 financial institutions. Account linking was available on desktop to all signed-in users in the US and Canada, with mobile and other countries to follow. On access, the split is clear: standard users can link a portfolio, use basic features on the Portfolio page and ask Perplexity about their finances, while “Advanced Computer-powered capabilities are exclusive to Pro and Max subscribers.”

On privacy, the company’s own statement in that post is the thing to hold it to: “The Plaid integration provides read-only access, and user data never touches Perplexity’s servers.” Read-only means Perplexity reads balances and holdings; placing an order still happens at your broker.

Two limits are worth writing down before you connect anything. Portfolio linking was described as desktop and web in the US and Canada, and the April 17, 2026 changelog said “Finance Portfolio support is coming soon to additional countries and mobile devices”. “Coming soon” is not a date, so treat the mobile portfolio as unavailable until it appears in your own app.

What Perplexity Finance costs

Perplexity’s pricing page lists a Free plan at $0. Pro is shown at “$17 /month when billed annually,” and Max at “$167 /month when billed annually,” so both of those figures assume you pay for a year up front rather than month to month. The pricing page also says Pro and Max add premium data sources “including PitchBook, Statista, and S&P Capital IQ.”

The help center article on Perplexity Max gives Max’s own totals as “$200/monthly or $2000/annually,” and notes that annual Max billing is “only available for the web app version.” If you plan to subscribe through an app store, that restriction matters.

For the Finance section specifically, the plan line that Perplexity has actually drawn is the Portfolio one: basic Portfolio features for signed-in users, Computer-powered analysis for Pro and Max.

Where Perplexity Finance stops

Accuracy is the first boundary, and Perplexity states it plainly. Its terms of service say “The Services may generate Output containing incorrect, biased, or incomplete information,” and tell you not to rely on the service or its output for “advice of any kind, including medical, legal, investment, financial.” That language is not boilerplate you can skip past when the subject is your retirement account. It means a Perplexity answer about a stock is a starting point you verify, not a recommendation you execute.

Freshness is the second. Perplexity’s developer documentation for its finance search tool warns that “Market data may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable for some symbols.” That page describes the API rather than the consumer pages, but it is the company’s own caution about its market data, and it is a good reason to compare any quote against your broker’s screen before you act on it.

The third boundary is what the product does not do for you. The Plaid connection is read-only by Perplexity’s description, so analysis happens in Perplexity and trades happen wherever your account lives. Nothing in the Finance pages replaces the broker, the custodian or the tax form.

How we checked this

Facts checked on October 20, 2026. Every figure, date and quotation above comes from Perplexity’s own pages: its changelog entries, the Plaid blog post, the pricing page, the help center article on Max, the consumer terms of service and the developer documentation for its finance search tool. Prices and feature availability change, so confirm both on those pages before you subscribe or connect an account.
